Keeping your spirits up and staying in good shape during the COVID-19 lockdown is one of the most important things you can do to get through the sanitary crisis we are experiencing in both psychological and physical health.

Like everywhere else in the world, Canadian gyms, fitness studios, Yoga clubs and places to practice sports are closed in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Most people are now working from their houses, which means we do not have the opportunity to walk much or do any physical activity to keep us in shape.

The good news is, Gyms and Fitness Studios across Canada have learned to adapt and continue to offer their services WORLDWIDE for free, online.

You can find in this list 6 Canadian Gyms that offer people the chance to do sports for free at home

Planet Fitness Canada

The Canadian gym chain Planet Fitness is taking it to social media to provide exercise programs on their Facebook page. You can tune in every day at 7:00 pm ET to get up to 30 minutes of energizing Home Work-In with their coaches and instructors. You can also rewatch all their Live sessions whenever you want.

Movati Athletic

Movati Athletic has closed its Gyms and Fitness Studios across Ontario to enforce social distancing measurements. However, Canadians and people from all over the world staying home during the quarantine period can follow them on social media to benefit from online workout sessions and yoga classes for free.

Their instructors and trainers are offering a rich and varied program with minimal to no equipment at all. They announce one day in advance on their social media handles the program.

When? Rotating schedule two to three times a day per social network

Formation Studio

The Vancouver based Formation Studio is the handle to follow if you are fond of dancing and cardio. The studio has announced that they have closed their doors amid the COVID-19 pandemic. However, they will be live-streaming a variety of dance-based courses for free during the lockdown. Their program is rich and includes freestyle workout sessions, resistance training, and short choreographed routines.

They regularly post a class schedule on their Instagram account for those interested in taking their online classes for free.

Barre Body Studio

The Barre Body Studio Fitness Centre is also joining in to offer free sports, workout and yoga classes online due to the Coronavirus pandemic that obliges us to stay home.

Their Master Trainers are offering every day different full-body workouts and training sessions for free. The sessions’ duration is between 30 minutes and 50 minutes.

No to little equipment needed ( a mat, and a set of lightweight that can be substituted for water bottles or something like that.)

Fit Squad

Coaches and trainers at Fit Squad are also joining in the fun. Check out their Instagram account every day at 12:00 pm for 45 minutes to 1-hour sessions of a bodyweight workout.

Lift Corktown

The superstar CrossFit gym has also made it public that during the COVID-19 confinement they will be providing Canadians and people all over the world with free online classes and workout sessions.

Every day at 10:00 am EST, you can tune in to follow their talented coaches, including Nike Master Trainer Josh Adamson (who counts Shawn Mendes as a client) going live for 30 to 45 minutes of bliss.

Might need Dumbbells and kettlebells as equipment but that’s it.

6IX Cycle

The Toronto based sports studio 6IX Cycle has its famous owner Julie Harrish going live on Instagram, every day of the COVID-19 lockdown.

Julie will be hosting a floor-inspired version of her class 6IX Strong. Every workout session goes for 35 to 40 minutes and trades in heavy climbs and quick sprints for intense bursts of rhythm-based cardio and mini-band work.

No equipment needed, even though a mini band for some extra resistance would be helpful if available.

Studio Yoga Club

In this time of isolation, the Canadian based Yoga Club offers people worldwide the opportunity to get closer to oneself.

The team has worked hard to present you with an online program to accompany you during your days in quarantine. Each day a meditation, a guided class, and a playlist are offered free of all charges.

No equipment or whatsoever needed.

When? Whenever you like, the program is accessible on their website and they are adding more programs every day.

B.Cycle

The Montreal spin and barre studio B.Cycle instructors and trainers going live every day on Instagram to provide people with free live courses. The courses include bar sessions, as well as classes for abs and butts. No equipment is required to participate.

Fit Factory Fitness

Due to the recent escalation of COVID-19 outbreak and stay in home order from the Government, Fitt Factory Fitness had no choice but to close its Fitness Studio in Toronto. But, as other Sports centers, they will be putting at people’s disposal free courses and training sessions during the quarantine.

Booty burn, Full body HIIT, Mobility, Abs training and more free online courses that can go up to 1-hour workout with the best online trainers.

City Shred

The City Shred Gym is also going for daily Instagram live streams during the lockdown to keep people in a good shape physically during the mandatory quarantine. Their Instructors from all over Canada will be giving for free a variety of workouts that goes from Pilates to HIIT and full body and abs sessions without any sports equipment at all. Sessions vary between 40 tot 1-hour.

Bonus points, City Shred is also live-streaming workout sessions and sports events for kids to do at home during the lockdown.

Are you into core, oblique and cardio-style exercises, and intense burn sessions? You must follow Sopearin Yos, the owner of Common Ground 416 gym during the lockdown to benefit from the free online sports courses he is providing every day on his Instagram.

The owner of this Toronto based gym club also provides courses on its personal Instagram account if you are into body-weight movements and exercises. A light set of weights is optional. If you don’t have any, you can use household items like canned goods, water bottles in a bag or books.
